Welcome to Sol Space!

Hi everyone!

Thank you for being here, it means so much to me! For those who don’t know me, let me introduce myself. My name is Tori, and welcome to Sol Space Studio.

Here’s a little bit about me! I’m from Long Island, New York, but I’m currently living in Northern Nicaragua. I’ve been practicing yoga since I was a young kid because my dad was a yogi. My parents always said that the only way I could fall asleep was by listening to Krishna Das, and to this day he’s still one of my most-played artists. Yoga has been a guide for me throughout life’s challenges. When my dad passed away, practicing yoga became really hard because it brought up a lot of grief, but it also became a way to feel connected to him and to my childhood.

It was always a dream of mine to become a yoga teacher, and in 2022 I finally went to Rishikesh, India, to do my first teacher training. It truly was life-changing. Learning so much about yoga’s history in such a spiritual place was super special.

Yoga has helped me heal wounds I didn’t even know I had. It has helped me soften and learn to listen to my body. As many women do, I’ve struggled with body image and feeling like I needed to look a certain way, but through the practice of yoga and learning from some great teachers, I discovered that it’s about how it feels and not how it looks. Yoga, both on and off the mat, is my guide through life’s challenges, trials, and tribulations. Of course, I sometimes forget and get caught up in things, but it always brings me back. My goal in this life is to learn as much as I can from this practice and to share it with others. To me, yoga is a tether to myself and a way to connect with community.

My first training was in Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga, and I have since then have studied and trained in Restorative, Yin, and Pranayama. I am forever a student and have a deep craving to learn from different teachers and styles, both for myself and to share. The style of yoga I mostly teach is slow flows and yin-ish classes to take the time to slow down and reconnect with the body and breath. I’m a surfer and am often really tired in my physical body, so I love deeply resting. In my personal practice, I bop around between different styles depending on what my body and mind need that day. I’m also growing in my Ashtanga practice. I see Ashtanga as a traditional way to stay connected to the traditional lineage of yoga, but some days I don’t practice the physical asanas and try to keep the philosophy in mind.

I am currently studying at the City University of New York online, and am on track to graduate in Fall 2026 with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. Afterwards, I plan to go to grad school in hopes of becoming a therapist. My dream is to connect yoga with therapy and bring different healing modalities together.

As for Sol Space, it’s slowly becoming both an online community and a real, physical home. I’m currently building an in-person yoga studio here in Northern Nicaragua which I hope will be a community space where people can gather for yoga, breathwork, meditation, and community circles. My dream is for it to be a place where different teachers can share what they love and where people can come together, connect, and feel supported. I really believe we need community more than ever these days, and I want Sol Space to feel like a grounding point for people, whether they live here or are just passing through.

The online side of Sol Space carries the same intention: creating a safe, inclusive, and accessible space for anyone who wants to practice, slow down, learn, or simply feel a sense of belonging. I think yoga is one of the most beautiful ways to connect deeper within yourself and, from that place, connect more genuinely with others.

This blog is a space where I’ll mostly ramble about all of the thoughts that come up in my mind. I am no doctor, no scientist, and not an expert in anything, so please take everything with a grain of salt, as I only know what I’ve lived in my own experience, and I can’t speak for the experiences of others.
